Neighborhoods Now | South Bronx
Neighborhoods Now | South Bronx: is a collaboration between the Urban Design Forum and Van Alen Institute which seeks to connect NYC neighborhoods hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic with design firms in a collective network.
The goal of this interdisciplinary team is to convert underutilized outdoor spaces into sites for local programming and cultural revitalization in 5 community gardens in the South Bronx.
The team is led by community partners Banana Kelly CIA, MVVA INC, The Greenest Fern and BD Feliz.
Building Underpass Greenways- bug
The bug: is a sustainable design project focused on transforming polluting infrastructure such as highways in the south bronx into accessible greenways.
The goal of this project is to create a community-driven vision for the underpass beneath the bruckner expressway to tackle public health issues related to environmental justice such as asthma and heat-related illnesses.
The team is led by The Greenest Fern, the point cdc, new york university's applied global public health initiative's climate change task force and leaf island.
